Restoration Services
Modern digital film scanners and the image processing tools available with software such as Adobe’s Photoshop and Lightroom have considerably improved the productivity of restoring old photographic prints and negatives. And of course giving us the capability to archive the restored images digitally.
I have an ongoing restoration project, restoring and archiving family images. Several examples are in my portfolio with the example on this page showing the before and after. The before image of my mother at circa 1950 in Singapore is a 3.5” x 2.5” very faded and torn print with numerous spots and blotches. The restored image while grainy is a closer crop and prints at 10” x 8” beautifully. The second image is of my father on Pityilu Island in the Solomons group circa 1950. The orignal is a small very faded and spotted print cut from a larger print at 2.3” wide. The restored image while “soft” at 8”x10” still prints beautfully. They made great gifts for my parents.
