David Irwin's Bio
I started taking pictures after I moved to the US in 1985. My first camera was a Minolta X700 quickly followed by an Olympus OM 4Ti in 1987 and all the images taken before late 2000 were taken with this camera. The OM4Ti stayed in the closet after I acquired my E20N in 2000 until I sold it along with the X700 a few years ago during a purge. I replaced the E20 with an E300 which in turn is a backup body to the E3 I use almost exclusively.
Creatively my work improved after I moved to digital format. The Seal Cove images are some of my earliest digital examples, taken in the winter of 2001/2.
I moved from the San Francisco Bay area to Santa Fe New Mexico in 2007 which of course brings not only lots of image capture opportunities and challenges to be original. Its actually been tough to get started taking images here. Santa Fe is very intimidating to a photographer being one of the most photographed places in the world. I am looking forward to the challenge.
I love to capture shape, texture and shadow. But now I feel a need to expand and looking forward to working on some ideas about tattoos, portraits and people candids, especially people at work in their passion, interiors and I have recently gotten very excited about photo restorations.
